Adults with Dyslexia

If you are a student with Dyslexia, we are here to help you. It’s important for you to remember that although your reading and writing may not be as good or fast as your friends in school or college, it doesn’t mean that you are not capable. In fact, there are a long list of very successful people who are dyslexic, and, in many cases, they contribute their success to the fact that they are dyslexic and think differently than most people. We would like to encourage you to keep doing what you are good at and not allow any difficulties around reading or writing affect your self-confidence or stop you from pursuing a career in any profession that interests you.

When it comes to reading and writing, we know that you might be struggling. We built this website to provide information and resources to help you manage your learning and life in school/college.

There is a lot of good information on this site, but here are few things that we recommend you check out:

Resources: We offer links to several websites with a lot of information about dyslexia. Some will help you to learn more about dyslexia itself and some will help you learn about the laws around dyslexia. In Texas, and many other states, there are laws to protect dyslexic students and provide them with help in school. It is important for you learn about the laws that can help you.

Help line: The HBIDA has great Help Line. If you have any specific questions, you can always call or email us and we will help you. Our members include many educators, people with dyslexia, and parents who have experience and want to share with and help you. Do not hesitate to reach out and ask us for information or help. 713-364-5177

College Panel: If you are thinking about going to college, or already in college, once a year in January we have a college panel with several dyslexic college students who share their experience as students and provide many tips.
