Structured Literacy in Higher Education: The IDA Texas Collective Impact

ree

On June 24, 2025, the University of Houston joined forces with the IDA Texas Collective Impact branches in Austin, Dallas, and Houston to present a powerful symposium dedicated to strengthening teacher preparation. The program spotlighted the Science of Reading, IDA’s Knowledge and Practice Standards, and the Accreditation process, all aimed at equipping educators with the tools they need for success.

Educational leaders from across Texas - including our own past president, Lisa Baker, M.Ed. - as well as colleagues from beyond the state, shared compelling research, practical examples, and proven strategies for elevating teacher preparation programs. Together, they highlighted what it takes to ensure every student can grow into a confident, capable reader.

A heartfelt thank-you goes to our speakers, attendees, and partners who brought energy, expertise, and collaboration to make this event a true success!
